Given how useless the service was in terms of customer service last time I attempted to use it, not really an issue.

Why anyone who is Au, or flying PE or UC would want to subject themsleves to it is beyond me.

Is the PE queue not bad at MCO?

We were going to take advantage of the DTD check in until the prices went up.

Well as someone who is both Au and travels UC then I subject myself to this everytime I fly VS. I do agree the service isn't great but just to be able to get rid of cases early is a big bonus.

I am going to miss this feature when flying BA in the next few weeks

I totally agree Paul. There is nothing better than getting rid of cases and leaving oneself bagless for the last day. (Especially if you are on VS076 which doesn't leave MCO until evening) [y]

I generally spend very little time in Disney parks when I'm in Orlando, as I prefer the parks on the Universal Flexticket. However, if VS were to offer UCW [Universal CityWalk] check-in, then I'd use it for sure, even if it cost me $10.

Even if your rental car is with an on-airport company at MCO [most are], you still have a fair distance to carry your checked luggage from where you drop your rental car off in the garage, through the tunnel then up the slowest escalator ever to the check-in level. Baggage carts / trolleys are generally not available here either.

If you can use DTD check-in - particularly for free - then do it. It'll make the MCO airport experience much easier.

I get what you guys are saying, but Sarah and I had such a crap experience last time we used DTD Check-in. It was very obvious that they hardly ever got any UC passengers as the service didn't cater in any way for them. I'd rather leave the cases in the boot of the car for the day and then check-in normally at MCO.

Thanks,
Richard

I know what you mean Richard, not purple boarding cards for a start, then they don't seem to recognise your status either.

Richard - I know what you mean - they don't seem to recognise status, you seem to have to prompt them to receive invites etc, but the advantage of geting rid of your luggage just about outways that.

Alan - it's purple boarding passes now, cann't remember when but either March trip or June trip i received them.

Great. that will stop me having to get them changed at MCO then [:D]

Would now be a good time to bring up how VS treat UC passengers more poorly on the MCO route than any other? :) I always look for an opportunity to bang that message home. But it is a bit of a struggle as I don't think that remote check-in is offered at any other location anyway. Correct me if I am wrong

You can check in for the HKG flight at Kowloon or Hong Kong station if you are using the Airport Express. I believe this is free, and there is the Check-in, Chill out service for the Caribbean routes as well.

Thanks,
Sarah

Would the check in/chill out service offered in some of the Caribbean destinations count as a remote check in service [?][:I][:I][:D]

Forgot about check-in, chill-out, didn't know about the offer in Hong Kong.

J pax do also get purple BC's when using check-in and chill out, or as least I did when I did it in NAS.

The check-in facility offered at certain Airport Express stations is very useful (its operated by Dragon Air for VS). Especially as HKG check-in opens 3 hours before the flight, but you can check-in way before at the Airport Express stations and then make use of the the Clubhouse (if you are Au or flying UC of course) as it is open from midday.

Sorry to drag this one up again, and apologies if it's been asked before, but...

Despite my many visits to MCO, I've never used DTD check-in. I was wondering, can the agents still allocate 75 H&K (i.e. the Premium Economy seats with masses of leg room) as they're emergency exit row seats?

Yes, they can allocate exit rows at DTD check-in.

I just still don't get the attraction of the place unless you don't have a hire car or are travelling in Y.

Thanks,
Sarah

I'm told that there is now a separate queue for UC and PE customers at DTD.

I know. I hate the place too, which is why I've never used it.

The trouble is, we're on VS74 on the return which doesn't leave until 20:40 and I'm not overly keen to have the bags in the back of a car all day which could easily get stolen, thus bringing a rather sad and stressful end to a holiday!

Plus, it then gives us a little more time to do stuff rather than getting to the airport 3 hours before the flight. As we're not flying in J, we haven't got the 'benefit' of the Delta Crown Room to escape to, and I'd like to keep my credit card out of Duty Free as much as possible!

Richard, yes there is a separate line but to be honest it's still a free for all. When you get there, the security agents check your ticket/passport and will direct you to a separate line for UC/PE/AU. The problem is the line is directly next to the economy line and instead of having a dedicated desk you will just get called across to the next available desk. Unfortunately, sometimes (well, a lot of the time I've used DTD check-in), the economy passengers get upset at what looks like queue jumping and it can turn into a 'race' for the next available check-in agent. I have had a silver member, who had been directed to the economy line, get very shirty with me for being in the UC line (I was of course travelling UC) and told me he had priority over me. To cut a long story short I asked him why he was in the economy line if he had 'priority' over me and we ended up both edging forward to try to get to the next free agent, needless to say I 'won' the 'race' - the verbal tirade coming out of guy's mouth did at least provide some entertainment.

I can quite beleive that, though I have seen such behaviour at MCO before at check-in and at boarding.

I use downtown Disney because every other time I have gone to MCO check in they try and bump me down a cabin.

I did notice last year there was a sign just at the end of the Upper line at MCO telling passengers the staff wouldn't take abuse, it was even on paper with pre printed upper class logo on, I thought it strange that it was only on the Upper line.

[:0] Looks like I'll be using DTD check-in this time as well then.

And I got into trouble for using that line as a Silver Card Holder !

Quote from the agent 'I'm not aware that Silver card holders can use the PE Check In !'

The look I got from the EC queue was like being in Rome before the lions were released [^]
