Forgive me if this is old news, but when you go to the 'Manage your flights' section of the Virgin Atlantic website. In addition to the API, seat changes, frequent flyer number, eticket and meal preference options, there if another button; 'Stretch out in comfort'.

This option gives you the price of a one way or return paid upgrade.

This sounds an excellent idea. I have no idea if the price will vary as the flight gets closer, or if a mileage upgrade will be offered if you are booked in the right fare bucket.

It is currently offering me a one way PE - UC upgrade for my BOS flights in February for 837 outbound 852 inbound or 1649 return.

That price seems quite high, but I like the principal of the function.

I cannot see this button on my booking. Maybe this is a PE thing, My booking is in Y.

Ah. It may be a PE thing, or may be based on availability. [?]

I have just checked the difference between the current lowest PE fare and lowest UC fare on my dates of travel is £1607, so the £1649 isn't exactly a bargain.

It has been there a while now, although, as usual with the VS web site, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

David - try moving seats as that worked for me in the past. Once you move seats, for some reason the upgrade button shows up.

It wont show on reward bookings or VH bookings though.

Nope, can't see it on my page either. I suspect it is to do with availibility of UC seats. Presumably our flight for tomorrow is fully booked up[ii]
Best wishes

Raj

Actually your flight tomorrow is showing just about as wide open as it could be.

It is only available to bookings originally made directly with Virgin and where there are seats available in the next cabin up. Doesn't include any reward, milesplusmoney or Virgin Holiday bookings

Just looked at a PE flight I have in June - upgrade noted as £118 each way. (LGW-MCO)

The return journey is listed as £487 - this may be because I booked a Companion ticket with this flight and it covers upgrading this ticket as well? Cannot find any details for this.

Seems a good deal, but I also have a Friend traveling on a Reward Ticket and the upgrade option is not shown for them. We checked when we booked the Ticket and they said there were no Miles Only UC tickets available, so I doubt this one can be upgraded.

Hi,

I was hoping some v-flyers might be able to help me with a couple of questions on the VS manage my booking upgrade page (From Econ to PE)

Does anyone know if the price quoted is a one way or return price?

Also when I click the link to actually do the upgrade I just get a 'page not found' error. Does the price take account of the fact I'm on a sale fare rather than a flexible one? - if not is this the reason I'm getting the error page?

Thanks

Steve

I have merged the new question with the old thread, which contains a lot of information about online upgrades.
