Could be. Have you been booked in R class?

If so, this would need to be updated.

R
Originally Supersonic - now Discount Economy (not used by Virgin Atlantic)
The Cabin Class for Supersonic is R, and full fare Concorde on BA used to be ticketed in R Class, but now that Speedbird is gone so too has the R fare class. BA has cheapened it somewhat and the R fare class is now used for discounted economy!

Is that info from Expert Flyer? or something like Seat Counter?

It stands for the number of seats allocated to RichardMannion [:D]

No mention of W or K on that itinerary

EF is currently showing R but the tool tip says 'NOT USED' - perhaps a VH code?

It's def. to do with UC as my upcoming flight is showing: J6 D5 R5 Z1 W2 S1 K0 Y7 B7 L7 M7 Q7 X7 N0
The code wasn't there yesterday. It does suggest an intermediate UC price range.

The only info I can spot that's different is
FOR R- TYPE FARES UNLIMITED TRANSFERS PERMITTED ON THE PRICING UNIT FARE BREAK AND EMBEDDED SURFACE SECTORS PERMITTED ON THE FARE COMPONENT. NOTE - LIMOUSINE TRANSFERS ARE NOT PERMITTED.

In addition, although unrelated, the new HKG flights are now on EF as of today.

It would be interesting to know where the OP got the original info to cut and paste.

As HL points out, there are no W or K seats mentioned, and there are a couple of extra zeros after N0. [8D] [?]

Perhaps RTW books into this?

I have just looked in our corp travel tool to book LHR-BOM for November.

R code going out, but Z coming back.

Perhaps Z is going like N class then. Bargain bucket with very limited availability. Maybe VS feel there is too much of a gap between Z and D fares when Z's run out.

Just had a look at the flight I've booked to NY in December and it's showing:
J7 D7 R7 Z7 W7 S7 K7 Y7 B7 L7 M7 Q7 X7 N7 both ways.
When you click on it using expertflyer it says R Not Used[?]

Just had a look at the prices on expertflyer for LHR-BOS and it's showing:
J = £4258
D = £2605
R = £2084
Z = £1562

T&C say:
SEASONALITY BETWEEN UNITED KINGDOM AND THE UNITED STATES FOR -HGB8 TYPE FARES PERMITTED 01SEP 08 THROUGH 31MAR 09 ON THE OUTBOUND TRANSATLANTIC SECTOR.

Mysteriouser and mysteriouser ... thought I'd try to see what the VS Web site may say but for any combination of dates, on any route I get the message:

There are no available fares for your selected dates. Please search again in 'Your Search' above.

So it seems that is playing up again!

It has been like that since lunch time[ii]

Where is our resident fare expert LRoM to shed some light on this issue?

Also, has anyone else noticed that the box that pops up when you click on the flight number doesn't always say which aircraft type it will be anymore?

R is the new Z [:)]

Z is the new... (guess, go on, I dare ya all... [:w])

Yes, sorry guys I've been out all day visiting customers.

R is a new Upper fare class that is currently being used as Z was for revenue - Z is going to be used for the time being for MpM Upper fares and certain sale fares. Z & R will continue to earn 200% mielage flown and 5 TP per sector.

They are possibly going to change again in the future to help with making Upper rewards available for certain customers.

So R is going to become the normal lowest Upper Class fare? Which accounts for a price hike of some 30% looking at the numbers people have forwarded!

What does making Upper rewards available for certain customers mean, a two tier approach to this?

I'm still trying to work out the logic of why they are doing it like this, but think along the lines of what SQ do for Gold Kris flyers that want premium reward seats....[;)]

For information of anyone who may be travelling on an R class ticket in the near future:

There would appear to be teething troubles with it, as you will not be able to use OLCI or the Kiosk check-ins - you will need to visit the UC check in desks. There will apparently be staff on hand to advise and assist.

The VS website has yet to be updated to show the new class which, as others have said, will sit between D and Z in the Upper Class ticket hierarchy.

Work is ongoing to address these issues.

Thanks to jamie, for breaking the news to us.

So earlier on I was on the VS website and just after I clicked to move on to another page I noticed out of the corner of my eye at the very bottom of my screen a heading which read 'R fares for Upper ....' (the rest was off my screen) on the homepage. Of course at that stage the screen changed to the page I was looking for but when I clicked on the back button, it wasn't there and try as I might I cannot find it. Was it an optical illusion? Was my mind palying tricks with me (no smart answers to that, please [:o)] ) Has anyone else seen it?
