So, earlier today I was just about to book connecting flights from LGW up to MAN for when we get back from BGI in May. I quickly check my itinerary on the VS website and - lo and behold - our return flight has changed (quite recently too, as I only last looked at it over the weekend).
VS030 is dead - long live VS036, which leaves a couple of hours later (just as well I hadn't booked our connecting flight any sooner, me thinks...). And the seat map is now unavailabe, of course.
Having booked these flights way back in August, I was pretty concerned and wanted to make sure we still had our requested seats of 6A & K and 7A - our favourite seats for many years, even more so now as they're ideal for travelling with Tizer in tow. A quick phone call to UC reservations to be told that we're now in 12A & K and 11A and that our original seats are now longer available. Sorry, but there's nothing we can do about it.
Incensed, I call Au FC and play merry hell - the seats they've given us are immediately in front of the galley and either side of the bar: far from ideal for a 3 year old. To their credit, they've now shifted us back to our original seats (or so they've promised - seat map is still unavailable).
Sorry to go on about this, but some kind of 'plane and/or schedule change seems to happen to us on almost every flight we book and - whilst I can accept these things happen - the only way I ever find out about them are through V-Flyer or by religiously checking our itinerary every week. Is a simple email from VS too much to ask? Factor into that the inconvenience of losing pre-requested seats without a bye or a leave everytime a change is made, and you have one rather ticked-off mdvipond.
Here endeth the rant...
