So, earlier today I was just about to book connecting flights from LGW up to MAN for when we get back from BGI in May. I quickly check my itinerary on the VS website and - lo and behold - our return flight has changed (quite recently too, as I only last looked at it over the weekend).

VS030 is dead - long live VS036, which leaves a couple of hours later (just as well I hadn't booked our connecting flight any sooner, me thinks...). And the seat map is now unavailabe, of course.

Having booked these flights way back in August, I was pretty concerned and wanted to make sure we still had our requested seats of 6A & K and 7A - our favourite seats for many years, even more so now as they're ideal for travelling with Tizer in tow. A quick phone call to UC reservations to be told that we're now in 12A & K and 11A and that our original seats are now longer available. Sorry, but there's nothing we can do about it.

Incensed, I call Au FC and play merry hell - the seats they've given us are immediately in front of the galley and either side of the bar: far from ideal for a 3 year old. To their credit, they've now shifted us back to our original seats (or so they've promised - seat map is still unavailable).

Sorry to go on about this, but some kind of 'plane and/or schedule change seems to happen to us on almost every flight we book and - whilst I can accept these things happen - the only way I ever find out about them are through V-Flyer or by religiously checking our itinerary every week. Is a simple email from VS too much to ask? Factor into that the inconvenience of losing pre-requested seats without a bye or a leave everytime a change is made, and you have one rather ticked-off mdvipond.

Here endeth the rant...

Thanks for the warning...

I'll be monitoring this with interest as we move closer to the summer.

When they canned our return from ORD at Easter they notified me by both text and email...

My return on 12th March on the VS28 was cancelled and at least was called and told I was being put on the VS16, although I'd seen it on the website a week or so before.

Not a huge problem for me as I prefer it but there were no Z's at the time of booking. However, I now can't see the seat map so no doubt it's full and I'm placed by the bar which I hate and doubt I will get any sleep.

I did consider calling Premier to ask to be moved but thought it would be a waste of time, I think in your position as you've got a toddler you had more of a case.

Hope they don't move you again.

Why don't I ever get texts/phone calls/emails to notify me? I'm a reasonable chap, quite affable in my own way; have I inadvertently upset somone at VS over the years? Surely not...

Just look at my recent track record:

LHR-MIA-LHR - schedule change - no notification from VS, found out from V-Flyer;

MAN-BGI - plane change - no notification from VS, found out by checking itinerary;

BGI-LGW - flight cancelled and shifted to new slot - again, no notificaiton from VS.

If I didn't spend as much time on here and/or check my itineraries so regularly we'd be in danger of being sat god knows where on the plane or, worse still, missing a flight!

Virgin really should notify pax when they have the contact info, fair enough if you are booked through a TA etc then that is understandable but Au members who book direct. I am surprised they haven't to be honest, when we had a schedule change I received an email asking me to call them and they gave me all the new info. Maybe (and I am trying to think of excuses for VS here) it was only a very recent change and they haven't got round to contacting you yet? is your contact info all up to date and correct?

The BGI flight was quite a recent change, but our MIA fligts were back in November, and we were never officially informed of the 3 hour change to our departure times.

All my contact details are present and correct with VS. Maybe my 'invisibility cloak' extends further than just the Clubhouse...

Not just you dear sir,

2 weeks ago courtesy of v-flyer I learned that our rtn from BGI was now changed to a later departure and new flight number. Called Prem team who confirmed this and promised to send me a new updated itinerary via e-mail. They even confirmed the e address. So far nothing.

I am sure things will be alright on the day but......

Well, at least I'm not alone then (though that'll be of very little comfort to you, I imagine). Have you checked with VS as to whether your seats have been moved?

Our May flight on VS7 got moved forwards by 15 mins this week. Had at least three messages from VS asking me to call them and confirm I had received the change. And I am a lowly red member...

The real hardship for me is that my holiday now starts 15 minutes earlier [;)]

Leaves 2 hours later? Disgraceful!!

You'll have to suffer the CH for a full 2 hours more now. Is there no end to this torture and misery?

Oh, and don't for get to secrete some limes in case the ignominy continues at the on-board bar.

No Clubhouse at BGI, Darren - more of a posh canteen, really. I don't mind the time changes too much (although it's now making getting back Up North from LGW a real ball-ache), it's the lack of notification and loss of previously requested seats that grates.

As for limes, I'm far too canny to travel without one nowadays: Tickets? Check. iPod? Check. QC2s? Check. Lime? Well, you get the gist...
