I'm new to the forum so I'd just like to say hi to everyone out there, I've been browsing around and you all seem to really know your stuff.
I'm going to be flying in a few weeks out of LHR (to EWR) on my honeymoon. At the moment I'm still a lowly Red Tier frequent flyer and I have about 17,000 miles in my account..the fare that I bought the tickets with is a milesplusmoney. Anyway, I'm just wondering if there are any perks anyone's experienced after informing the people at check-in or the crew that you're on your honeymoon? I'm not really hoping for a free upgrade but maybe a discount (though I doubt it on an already discounted economy fare), or even just a little bottle of champagne?
I certainly don't expect anything free but what's the likelihood of being able to purchase an upgrade? (Flight number is VS017)
Apologies if I've asked any really stupid questions. I am but a lowly ignoramus in this forum.
Anyway, a little more about me, I'm 21 so I haven't been flying on my own for very long, but when I was 17 I decided to fly to London on my own and chose Virgin & ever since then I've always flown with them...except once, when I flew with BA because they had the cheapest fare available. Didn't think they were bad at all, but just not as...I don't know...fun as Virgin.
Anyway, hello out there!
