VS have/had to have 2 configurations of 747s
one has the Upper deck split into 2: Front half UCS and back half PE
one has the Upper deck all PE
However, I think they are doing away the all PE version as they introduce the UCS since you get less UCS seats downstairs compared with the old J2000 seats and therefore need a few more UCS seats upstairs.
I am not sure if VS has many, if any, all PE Upper deck configuration left. Pity!
Sorry KenJohn but this isnt the case.
This is old hat to many on here but maybe every now and again is worth covering - the Gatwick and Manchester 747's have 14 UCS seats in the downstairs nose section - behind this they have PE seats and its all PE seats upstairs. These planes are used on the so called "Bucket and Spade" routes to the Carribbean/Orlando and also to Las Vegas - I guess the thinking is that holiday passengers are paying for their own seats and the PE product is more affordable than UCS??
The 747's out of Heathrow have a bigger UCS section and then PE behind that with UCS and PE in the upstairs section - the thinking being that the major transatlantic routes will have more business men on company accounts ( or V-flyers:D) in the UCS seats!! Heathrow also has the 346's
I suspect that as the fleet moves to Airbus we will eventually have Airbus out of Heathrow and 747's out of Gatwick/Manchester!!!
Of course - all is clarified on the Seat Map page on this very website ( if a mod can insert a link and then pm how to do it I would be most grateful!!!)
I think that all made sense - but I am sure the wiser owls amongst you will correct me if Ive boobed!!
